Biographical note:

Angélica Gorodischer is an internationally known writer of fifteen novels and books of short stories, and is particularly noted for her work in the genres of science fiction and fantasy. In 1998 and 2000, she organized two extremely successful international conferences of women writers in Rosario, Argentina, where she lives, and is planning another in 2003. Gorodischer is a member of a feminist group called the Witches and has been doing research to discover forgotten Argentinean women writers for many years.

Gorodischer's literary awards include the Gilgamesh Prize (Spain), in 1986 and 1991; the ¨Dignity¨ award, granted by the Permanent Assembly for Human Rights for works and activity in women's rights, in 1996; Konex Platinum, in 1994; Silvina Bullrich award, granted by the Argentina Writers' Society to the best novel written by a woman during the three precedent years, in 1998; and, in 2000, the Esteban Echeverria award, granted by Gente de Letras in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
